Rewindpix

Exploring and capturing the world without words

At some point this year, I came across a kickstarter for a new product. The Rewindpix camera. A screen free digital camera. This wasn’t a new concept. There have been quite a few iterations of camera that proposed to shoot images that were filmlike. This camera was one of those. The exception was the companion app that would allow you to load in filters. Most other screenless cameras came with a few built in filters. The difference with the Rewindpix would be the inclusion of quite a few different filters and even the option to customize your own. This also includes adding effects such as light leaks with a slider that controls intensity.

The Papershoot camera is another digital screen free camera that too offers built in filters with the option to purchase sim card type filters. These would be loaded into a slot on the camera and would change the filter set up. These you toggle with a switch on the back of the camera. My favorite of this was the limited edition Asteroid City filter card that allowed you to shoot images in teal and orange, like in the movie. In my quest to find the perfect everyday carry camera, Papershoot wasn’t one that I used very often.

Rewindpix has been out for a few weeks now, after a very successful campaign. My camera was delivered mid June of 2026. After playing around and getting used to the camera, I can say that I am enjoying my time with it. The idea of built in camera filters appealed to me very much so after using various apps on my android phone, however I have been iffy as of the last few years using my phone to capture images. I am also in possession of a Sony Alpha A7III camera and a few photo editing applications on my IMac, however carrying my mirrorless camera has felt like a bit of a hassle. While I have quite the selection of lenses to choose from, that becomes an issue where I want to carry multiple lenses with me at times. I have a camera bag with limited space and I have tried to stuff it with more than 2 lenses. My most recent purchase was a 35MM anamorphic lens from Sirui. My most recent obsession has been capturing images in wider than usual formats, but I haven’t found the time or much inspiration to carry this combo around with me. A little dilemma I find myself in is carrying around expensive equipment and at places such as certain venues, being told that camera bags aren’t allowed and even the camera itself.

Thus the journey to find the perfect camera commenced. This journey has taken place over the last few years, after having learned of cameras like the Fuji X100V and X100VI.
